Abstract Synthetic monoterpenic and aromatic β- d -glucosides and β- d -rutinosides were separated by Fractogel TSK HW-40 S chromatography according to their molecular size and interactions occurring between the aglycone moiety and the gel matrix. Under these conditions terpenyl rutinosides were eluted before the homologous glucoside derivatives. In the two classes, monoglucosides and rutinosides, aromatic glycosidically bound components had lower retention times than the corresponding terpenyl components. We developed a sensitive fluorescence-based assay for determination of exosome concentration. In our assay, Cholera toxin subunit B (CTB) conjugated to a fluorescence probe and a gel filtration technique (size-exclusion chromatography) are used. Exosomal membranes are particularly enriched in raft-forming lipids (cholesterol, sphingolipids, and saturated phospholipids) and in GM1 ganglioside. CTB binds specifically and with high affinity to exosomal GM1 ganglioside residing in rafts only, and it has long been the probe of choice for membrane rafts. Abstract The water-soluble fractions of two goat cheeses — one denomination of origin commercial trade mark (crottin de Chavignol®) and one bought in a local cheese making establishment (Bouton de culotte®) — containing many taste and flavour molecules were studied. Ultrafiltration with a 1000 Da threshold membrane, followed by gel filtration on Toyopearl HW-40S gel using water as eluent, led to the production of edible fractions. [EN] The soybean oil polyol (SOP) use as feedstock in the polyurethane industry has been recently emphasized due to its excellent resistance to hydrolysis, which is also applicable in coatings and thermal insulation. In this article, the SOP was obtained by a very fast microwave-assisted alcoholysis of epoxidized soybean oil (ESO). The preparation method, thermal properties, and relaxation process were evaluated. Abstract Harbor seal blubber samples were analyzed for PCDD/Fs and PCBs by splitting the initial extract into three aliquots and applying three different techniques for lipid removal (the first step of sample cleanup methodology for GC-HRMS analysis): gel permeation chromatography (GPC), sulfuric acid treatment, and dialysis through semipermeable membrane. Measurement of interactions between polysaccharides and flavour compounds by exclusion size chromatography: Advantages and limits

Interactions between flavour compounds and polysaccharides have been studied by exclusion size chromatography, the Hummel and Dreyer method. Hydrogen bonding was found between 2-acetyl thiazole and dextrines of different degrees of polymerisation. The number of binding sites and the affinity constant increase by increasing the degree of polymerisation. Hydrogen bonding was also responsible for the interactions between xanthane and 1-octen-3-ol or 2-acetyl pyrazine, with 1 mole of 1-octen-3-ol bound per pentasaccharide repeating unit. Unfortunately, the number of flavour compounds, which can be studied with this method, is limited due to their low water solubility and their low UV absorption.

Abstract New graft copolymers have been synthesized, using hyaluronic acid (HA) as a hydrophilic backbone and polylactic acid (PLA) as an aliphatic polyester in order to obtain new polymeric derivatives of HA able to hydrophobically associate in an aqueous medium. Hyaluronic acid with low molecular weight was made soluble in organic solvent by transformation to its tetrabutylammonium (TBA) salt. Using the HA–TBA derivative, the reaction was performed in dimethylsulfoxide adding as a reagent the N -hydroxysuccinimide derivative of PLA.
